Welcome to the Active-Elders Discussion Board.
We are a welcoming, inclusive community that provides stimulating conversations with other Active Elders looking to share interests and knowledge.
We have a few simple guidelines that we ask everyone to follow:
1. Be Kind And Supportive
This community is for supporting each other with any skills, knowledge or information that will make our lives better.
2. Provide Feedback Constructively
Ask for input when you want it, but refrain from offering advice unless you are asked to. Sometimes people want to share their experiences but don’t want life advice. If asked to provide feedback or criticism, do so constructively and with the intention of fostering positive discussion.
3. Be Respectful
Treat others with respect, even if you disagree with their opinions. Don’t disparage or belittle other people’s ideas, experiences, or choices. Be mindful of cultural, ethnic, and gender sensitivities. Refrain from discriminatory comments based on race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or other personal attributes.
4. Protect Personal information
Refrain from discussing private matters that may compromise the well-being of participants.
Don’t post sensitive information such as physical addresses, phone numbers, or email addresses, whether your own or someone else’s. Posts on this board are visible to and searchable by anyone with access to the internet.
5. Stay On Topic
Keep discussions focused on the designated topics for each thread or category. Avoid derailing conversations with unrelated or off-topic comments. Focus on the ideas being presented.
6. Avoid Spamming
Do not flood the board with repetitive or irrelevant posts. Respect the frequency guidelines for posting to prevent spamming.
7. Refrain From Baiting
Avoid offensive language, personal attacks, or inflammatory remarks. Posts or threads made solely to provoke a strong negative reaction or conflict do not contribute to the inviting place we’d like our community to be.
8. Malicious Behavior is not allowed
Active Elders does not tolerate harassing behavior or posts that encourage hatred or violence. Do not create multiple accounts or claim to be other community members. Refrain from using excessive capitalization, excessive punctuation, or offensive language. Very simply, hostile behavior is not allowed here.
9. Resist the urge for Sales, Fundraising
No spam, sales, charity, or other posts requesting money. We want to protect our members from charity fatigue. We are also an international group, and these posts can cause confusion.
10. Avoid any illegal activity
Do not advocate or disclose intent to commit illegal activities. This includes posting or linking to material that violates copyright or trademark laws.
11. Report Abuse
If you feel that a post is in violation of these guidelines or other norms, send an email to [1] community@active-elders.org asking for moderator review. We want everyone to feel comfortable sharing their expertise and experiences with other members.
12. Familiarize yourself with and adhere to the overall community guidelines and rules
Welcome new members and help them acclimate to the community. Foster an environment where everyone feels comfortable participating.
